Why, for goodness' sake, it had to be left for so long right at the back of the field I do not know. If it had a reasonable possie it would surely have then won with that long storming run. Overtook everything except the winner, which had a huge first run advantage.

    Nice one CMB.

    Roman River a non-runner.

That goal by Origi wasn't as easy as it looked. Well done.
  • CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
Yeah. An upset right at the start. If Tottenham continue to play in this over-casual, too slow, too negative way, without much penetration, and fluffing the few chances they get, seems like there can only be one winner now. Liverpool also beset by nerves, but speedier build-ups, much more penetration, playing with much more intent, though nothing like as good as they usually are. Both sides badly affected by the heat - look how desperate they were for water bottles during breaks in play.

Who knows, might be a completely different second half. It had better be for Spurs, if they're to have a chance. But they could be gifted by a mistake. More likely that Liverpool will be though, on evidence so far.
  • CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
We've had so many shocks, can't really predict. Liverpool should win, but if either side get hit by early goals - who knows? It could be a predictable match, it could be a bit crazy sooner or later in the match. Both teams have so much at stake that we might well see some upsets under pressure.

Maybe even 2-2 and penalties. Then....I dunno!
  • TELECASTER by 3 lengths

Sorry, only seen this just now. Peter Naughton free tips:

''There are three notebook horses running over the weekend, including Roman River, who can continue his progression in the 5f handicap at Nottingham (4.30) tomorrow. Martin Smith's unexposed four-year-old was a close second to Ornate in a hot handicap at Newmarket last month but might have won had he handle the Dip. This flatter track is sure to suit and a big run from his Newmarket conqueror in Saturday's Epsom Dash would boost confidence.

Vivionn will appreciate the step up to 1m2f in the fillies' handicap at Doncaster (2.30) today. She beat her own gender at Chelmsford, when Jason Watson set steady fractions but was beaten for pace when hampered over 7f at Woverhampton the time before. This longer trip and galloping track will be more to her liking.

Finally, I'm backing Adjutant in the novice hurdle at Stratford (6.00) today. Olly Murphy's unexposed gelding helds four entries between today and Tuesday and although probably one to follow when handicapped, a Flat rating of 80 offers hope of success in a novice. He wasn't knocked about when unable to match the leaders at Stratford on hurdling debut in March but won twice on the level for Brian Meehan and could prove a good buy at 20,000 guineas.''

Vivionn and Adjutant won at 6/5 and 9/4 respectively.

Roman River is 9/2 with PP and 888Bet in the Nott. 4.30 tomorrow, 10 runner h'cap over 5F.

Jamie Osborne said today that he reckons Nick Bradleys Raising Sand has a massive chance in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot (Wednesday 19th June), especially if the rain comes. 16/1 with Tote, Betfred, Sky. I've had an e/w dabble.

Combination f/c for 5 picks is 20 bets. Combo Tricast 60 bets. So I'd do the first in 10p units (£2), the second in 5p units (£3). Total £5 per race.

More great recalls there. especially Hippo's!

I should clarify how I worked those speed ratings: Look at the top 6, eliminate the top-rated, cover the next 5 named horses for reverse SF and Tricast.

This speed ratings service is very good IMO. Have been following them (not backing all the time) for about a year. The method I used was to cover the bottom 5 in the main ratings for each race (not the LTO) in reverse f/c and Tricast. Try paper trading it for a week or two. I got some huge returns.

The UK ratings for each day are free. You can download the ones for Southwell here, off the home page:

Not sure really. It got swamped pretty badly in final furlong. 5F is probably best. It will surely win something though.
  • Bits of info
Ok....anyhow it was still leading 1 1/2 furlongs out, on the far side, but after that the stands side horses had much the better of it, don't know if that draw really made the difference, but u/p. meybe 6th or 7th at best.
