Well done mate; sounds like a cracking day.

Superb again Hippo although I got so caught up with Meydan that I completely forgot about Son of Comas and even when I saw it had won had to think about why I recognised it. Great pick, well done!

    Ah, that makes sense. Cheers.

On a separate one: Am I right in thinking you’ve backed Circus Couture before? Runs tomorrow in a decent aw 10f class 2 and I’m tempted to have a small e-w at 33s, mark has dropped to 94 and although trip is prob his max, might be worth a try as most recent runs have been in the top mile handicaps.

    Any thoughts?

Thanks Hippo. Just one quick check, think Son of Camas was with NH for the Punchestown bumper you refer to - Pat Mullins rode that day. Don’t know if that makes any difference but as you say, the description is unusual. Was well fancied either way going off at 2/1 in a 19 runner festival bumper on debut! I actually backed the winner that day as I was blindly backing JJ’s horses throughout that week and did pretty well from what I can remember.

Have a cracking day tomorrow and good luck.
  • Do the stewards actually watch markets?
You’ve convinced me Hippo; on the e/w double and small singles. You’re right though, no rhyme and reason for half of what goes on with the prices at times.

Takes me back to a debutant we had on family funday at Chester years ago; was a late foal and needed the experience as was only with a tiny yard and it got backed in from 28s to 7s (opened on course at 10s) and we were just staggered at the move. It should’ve been 100/1+ and got beat 28l.

Great write up as always though Hippo, love your passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and rants! Cheers

Thanks all. Had been on a shocking run until mid October but the end of the month was a blinder. It’s a good comp; I’ve had a win, a close 2nd and two washouts from 4 months since I’ve been on. Think the changing ground has made it a tough late Summer and Autumn though in general.

Dropped him way too deep and far too much to do. I had 5/1 each way 4 places and thought it was nailed on to breakeven at worst!

Cheers Hippo, great call on Miss Thoughtful.
  • 520 wolves
Money was spot on. Mine were both poor selections.
  • 520 wolves
I’ve had a small win bet on Field of Vision at 13/2 and and even smaller e/w on Elusif who has been poorly drawn last twice.
  • Wednesday daytime
    Great work Joe!
