Unlucky, first one done by a dog!
  • Today
Welcome back Hippo, commonsense prevails, looking forward to some good posts again. Cheers!
  • Newmarket 5pm
Cheers chaps. Think Kingscote was on a promise on this one, if you know the inside story. ;)
  • About time!
Very poor trifecta though paid only 38% of tricast, never seen such a crappy return differential tbh! Obviously not the first time that the Master has pulled off the 1,2,3., I usually split across the two pools but was out of time.
Still not complaining. His other runner finished 5th.
  • Skysports rubbish new racecard format
Thanks Mugz, that has saved the day! It is very similar to the old SkySports left menu. Will be useful, as is easy to get a grip on timelines and meetings and is simple to navigate.
  • HIPPO
Don't be silly jimfl, this is a great site, goes through its ups and downs, but kudos to Mugz and the other moderators who don't have to do this, but do, for the fun of all, and organise competitions and stuff too! If you don't like it just leave.
  • Epsom Friday
I went into hospital recently, had my "losing streak" removed, Hippo, ask to have it done as an each-way double. Nurse!
  • Biggest pricer I've had a result from.
Most nerve racking - My 40/1 tenner on Red Marauder in the National when it was down to just him and Smarty, bloody hell that mud and that last mile run in took ages!!!!
  • Biggest pricer I've had a result from.
That's weird Hippo, I did Ikdam due to the change in going to soft, I believe (66/1) and also did Yahoo! Annoyingly missed out when Wardrobe Thornton missfired on Sir Rembrandt in the GC. Probably my best were getting 50/1 AP on Sizing John just after Jessica announced it may be going for the Ryanair, post its Jan victory at Thurles. Had Thomas Johansson to win the Aussie Open tennis at 100/1 and my 134/1 tote win this year at the festival will take some beating! Another I remember well was at Cartmel where often horses run twice over the BH weekend. Did a Moffatt second string in a 5 horse selling race, on the tote, was opposing another Moffatt horse which was backed from 2/1 into evens or thereabouts (now these two had faced off two days prior and this fav had come out on top then at I think 7/2 with the said second string at 7/1), well I just kept watching that tote window and watching it drift and drift, popped just 3 quid on for fun and watched it come in by a neck or so ..... 97/1!!!!!! Thanks very much. Most enjoyable was Lord Windermere coming in, had that big on the tote, and finally a rick by Totesport pricing Catalan Dragons to finish bottom first season in the Super League with protected status. 7/2 generally, managed to get 50 quid at 12/1 with the Nannygoat!!!
  • Irish 1000 Guineas
Yes, probably a bit overpriced. It is a very difficult race to weigh up. Good luck.

Less of the contemplation please, Hippo! Thanks again for taking time to write up. Good luck!
  • Victoria Cup
Strangely, I am drawn to the same horse and conclusion.

cheers Hippo, you led me to bang in Lady Kaya with my own selection for a nice exacta.
  • 2000 Guineas
    Excellent analysis bookiesson, well done.
  • Wednesday
Thanks for the write up, Hippo. Good luck!
  • Generous Ladbrokes
    Poor value.
  • THE GRAND NATIONAL
What an incredible Trifecta payout! £23K, and TBH not impossible as you had the first two in the betting with another great Irish trainer. So just the 3 best Irish trainers in first 3. Bit pissed that I missed it as I had Rathvinden and Magic of Light in combos but not with TR. Pretty stupid of me to leave out the fav I guess.
  • THE GRAND NATIONAL
Quite a boring race really nowadays. Backed the second on tote win (so lost) on seeing the drying ground. Can't quite get my head around what this great race is all about now to be honest. As for Tiger Roll winning the Gold Cup, I think you must be on drugs.
  • THE GRAND NATIONAL
General Principle and Pleasant Company are my two although having backed the latter at 50/1 last year this is just a "sods law" bet! Only concern is Kennedy has chosen Dournikos ahead of GP, they have form lines, GP has a 5lb pull fromthe GN Trial earlier.
