What is ‘Double Stakes About’?
Double stakes about is a form of up-and-down bet. It is a bet on two selections, with a single bet placed on each selection. If the bet on the first selection wins, double the stake is then placed on the second selection. If this selection also wins, two further bets are placed – the original stake on the second selection, and double the stake on the first selection. The benefit is that the returns are much higher than placing two single bets.

A Single Stakes About is an Any To Come bet consisting of 2 selections taking part in different events, which are combined to produce 2 bets derived from 2 Singles. Any return on each Single, up to the original stake amount, is used to fund a further Single on the other selection. This bet is also known as an Up And Down, a Cross Bet, a Twist, and a Vice Versa.

so 2 ten pound wins on 2 5/1s single stakes about
10 on a 5/1= 60 back but 10 of it goes on horse 2

horse 2 wins you have original 10 on + 10 from first winner
also 10 of the seconds winners return goes back on the first

so 2 winners pay
50+ 60= 110 horse 1
50+ 60 = 110 horse 2

if you only get one winner
you get 50 back ( as ten of it went on the other horse but lost)


double stakes about 20 would be transfered onto the other horse and vice versa
i think it stems from days in the bookies when people had to go to work but wanted to put more on a second selection if first one won

I always called them VV's

Betfred do round Robin's, and double stakes about..also alphabets but I don't think it's best odds guaranteed on these bets if you take the price

can be very useful if your backing long shots in singles
as transferring 2 x stake is a small % of a decent price winner
but gives you just about 3 x stake on both nags if they win (less the transfered stake)
