BEST of the BETS

As you know I'm always looking for an angle, no matter how tentative!
One that I've touched on in the past is looking at how trainers perform in specific months historically, with the thought being that their horses possibly come into peak condition as a group at a certain period of time, if that makes sense!!

Anyway, I was looking at a couple of Ralph Beckett's horses today, CHARTERED in the 4:55 in particular, and took a look at his stats for the month of May.

He generally does pretty well with his runenrs at this time of year, as can be seen from the winners/runners table below.....

2018 - 10/63 (16%)
2017 - 12/58 (21%)
2016 - 11/57 (19%)
2015 - 12/59 (20%)
2014 - 12/67 (18%)
2013 - 14/58 (24%)

Last year obviously saw a bit of a drop off on previous years, but generally you are looking at him hitting around the 20% mark with around 12 winners from around 60 runners.

So far in 2019 he has returned 6 winners from 42 runners for a 14% strike rate. History therefore would suggest that he may bag a few winners over the next week.

May be worth watching his runners. He has 4 out today and as mentioned I have a sneaky feeling that his Frankel filly CHARTERED could run a big race in the 4:55 at Goodwood.
