EL GHAZWANI (6/1, backed from 8/1) made a promising start when 4th of 8 (ahead of two previous winners) in a good Newmarket novice in April. Bit disappointing that he didn’t really build on it in next two runs, but had an excuse at Newcastle as he lost his shoe. Has had nearly 3 months off and is an interesting runner on handicap debut for Hugo Palmer, whose runners have a 16% win (+13 LSP) and 31% place strike rate on handicap debut. His handicap mark of 77 seems just about right, so he will need to have improved to win this and it is a competitive race, that’s why only a small each way bet.
