4:45 Hereford - CITY DERBY (9/4), Fergal O’Brien has a really strong record in bumpers, 8 winners already this season from just 22 runners, 5 of them (from 14 runners) on debut, 5 from 9 if you only count those priced under 5/1. Has had only 2 bumper runners at Hereford before (7/1 unplaced & 4/1 winner, both on debut). Pedigree looks ok (grand-dam won a bumper at the Punchestown festival). I think he should run well first time, although it is a competitive race with newcomers from other stables that also do well in bumpers.
5:15 Kempton - PORTFOLIO (7/5) - nap, was narrowly beaten by one with experience on her debut in a similar race to this here last month, she was 3 lengths and more clear of the rest. That winner is now rated 80, top rated filly in this race is 79, so she doesn’t need to improve much to win this.
Very poor again. Had a chance of trading City Derby as it was backed into as short as 6/5 this morning, but didn’t take it, unseated in the race after getting hampered. Portfolio was very weak in betting and drifted out to 3/1, and finished out of places.
