Read an article fewer people attended the Chester meeting this year. I think this will happen at more race courses as folk are having less cash in their pockets. But it's about time the prices to get in to the tracks are lowered . They are way too high. Anyone else got a view on this.
Wait till the winter comes and people have to use energy. Tracks might get by in the Summer but when bills are going through the roof then cutting back on leisure activities is the easiest way to save money. If you include petrol costs then a day at the races can set you back £50-£100 before you have had a bet.
A possible reason is the amount of meetings, with the lockdown all the tracks had no income so speak of
when things got back to normal, the bha put on exra meetings to cover the shortfall and are not back
to normal yet, a week past saturday there was 9 meetings (2 irish) that amount only ever happened
on a bank holiday before. Have not counted them but there seems to be a lot of small fields lately
Arrival by Jack Keene highlighting race courses need to slash entry prices ! Mentions to get in longchamp on guineas day tomorrow £5 . When I went to longchamp on arc day when golden horn won it was 10 euros. Not much has changed on their prices ! Over here it's ridiculous £20 pound to get in at lingfield on a midweek bog standard race meet. It's not rocket science. Look at aintree they charged £42 for a bottle of prosecco . Come on it's disgusting. Chips how much ? These tracks better wake up or the crowds will just not come back.
