So unlucky, Wby, but a very good 2nd with Therewillalwabeone.
  • 1:45 & 3:20 extra places
    Good luck, Wby.

Josies Orders won as expected, but Alpha Male was only 13th, the idea was right though as Peter Maher’s other 3 horses finished 3rd (33/1), 5th (100/1) & 8th (100/1), could have backed those 100/1s for extra places but picked the wrong one unfortunately.
  • Naas 9/2/19 - Any fancys?
I usually like having a bet on Irish races, but I think this is a poor card for a Saturday. I am not having any big bets, but might put a few in a multiple bet.

City Island should win the 1st, but at 1/5 you would be disappointed if it doesn’t. In two divisions of the maiden I think Sky Marshall and Faugernon could run well, both finished 2nd and 5th in same race 2 weeks ago, form of that race hasn’t been tested yet but I think it could be fair. In the Listed race, Pravalguna is th 4/7 favourite, Mullins has won this race with likes of Gitane Du Berlais & Benie Des Diuex in past and even those two didn’t go off at odds on, surely Pravalaguna is not better than those two so this must be a poor race for it to be such a short price, will probably win but I wouldn’t back it at that price. Konitho in the 2:40 is the best bet in my opinion even though Joseph O’Brien also has the 2nd favourite too, it was hard not to be impressed by the way Konitho beat a good flat horse Lethal Steps when making his debut here 2 weeks ago, and he looks worth following on that evidence. Scoir Mear (3:10) hasn’t won for a long time but has been running in Graded handicaps so could return to form taking a significant drop in class. She’s Made It (3:40) is consistent and this is a winnable race, only worry is she might find one too good again.
  • Rated big pricers
    Well done.
  • 8:00 Dundalk
    Thank you.
  • Dundalk
Chess Grand Master won well, but Brokopondo was disappointing again, finishing only 7th or 8th. Fairly happy with the evening though.
  • 8:00 Dundalk
4th, so no damage done if backed with Betfair. I should have known, how the money came for Drakensberg before the off as I like following that stable when the money is down.
  • Dundalk
Grace Rafaela was last. Just two more I like tonight

I have got a free bet from Betfair for the 5:30 winner, I have used it on Chess Grand Master (3/1) in the 7:30 race, even though he has it to do at these weights against couple of higher rated runners, but he won well returning from a 400 day absence last time and could improve for stepping up in trip.

Also a small bet on Brokopondo (9/1) in the 8:30, it’s almost two years since he last won a race, but that was over this c&d from a 21 lbs higher mark, so he is clearly well handicapped now. Having only 3rd start since joining his new trainer who has an excellent record of 7 from 32 (+50 LSP) in Dundalk handicaps, ran over shorter last time, but he is better over this trip, and jockey has a very good record for trainer too.
  • 5.30
Thanks guys. I did trade it in running to guarantee a profit, because she had gone very short in running last twice. Probably should have left it, but it still worked out about a 5/1 winner for me so happy with that.
  • 5.30
Good luck, CMB. I noticed that too, is not without chance dropping in class and on a mark he has won off before, good jockey too. I have backed Nisior Donn, although she is up in class, but she is in good form, backed it at 8/1 might trade it in running around 2.5 if she goes that short.
  • 8:00 Dundalk
4 places with Betfair, and if it wins we get a free bet too.

Well done, Brian and Calvert with Toni’s A Star, what a price it ended up. My one gave it a good go from the front, trading at 2.28 in running but paid the price for setting a strong pace but his stable mate, who was backed late, grabbed 2nd.

Well done with Road To Rome, impressive results from filtered selections, I will look out for these.
  • System Test #2 for the AW
    Going very well, well done.
  • Trainer form month on month....Members thoughts please....
You could be right, most of his wins have come over 6/7 though, 1 from 14 over 5f, agree with you he is certainly well handicapped. Money has kept coming for it, and that could be significant, £6,356 out of £15586 (41%) matched on him, which is quite high. I have left it, especially now that the price is gone but good luck if backing.

    One runner today

Tavener in the 8:15 at Wolverhampton

I don’t really fancy it on form, but there is apparently a bit of early gamble going on this one, over 30% of the money matched in the race on Betfair has been on this horse moving the price from 14.5 to 8.0

Ok, I will go with 8:15 Wolverhampton, low grade sprint but looks very open at first glance.
  • My selections for today.
Won very easily, good reasoning and well done.
  • 100 winners before July
Nice couple of winners again, well done.
