Yes Kauto was a Star, what a match up that would have been against Arkle, and Desert Orchid too when on his day.
  • 3.0 new.
Thought after a couple of reruns that Yorkhill was absolutely tanking and overjumpedi n eagerness that the jockey was already counting his winnings!
  • Daily selections
Well worked out, missed it as was cooking.

That's a bummer, I like Hippo and all his tips and views, the most indepth poster we get nowadays. :(
  • Hippo
Yup, well done Hippo for being a good sport and posting great tips, also to all the others who do the same. Thankfully a lot of the annoying types have given up and gone elsewhere when they are ignored.

I will be backing Legal Spin, good luck one and all!
  • LIVELY SATURDAY LONGSHOTS
Close, but no cigar, Trais Fluors could never get on the pace but outran its odds 50/1 to finish 5th, likewise Zula Alpha in 4th at similar odds..
  • LIVELY SATURDAY LONGSHOTS
SA 22.20 Trais Fluors - Fabre under the radar, fav early season for some biggies, never quite delivered, may be its day 33/1.
Also interested in why Zulu Alpha is there after such a layoff. 23.40 SA.

I'm totally up that alley. I believe Skelton "graduated" from the Nicholls' "academy" of shisters. Nicholls' did my mate, since deceased, over big time. Was the owner of a mare Princess Hecate many moons ago, and my mate had it as a pointer, put it with Nicholls when he was starting up, didn't cut the mustard allegedly according to PN, was given peanuts for it and then miraculously it ended up in other colours performing astonishingly well. Make of that what you will, all I know is that that PN is not to be trusted.

Totally agree hippo, I tend to have long losing runs interspersed with things like Stratum, and the occasional AP punt like getting 50/1 Sizing John after the Thurles Jan meeting and listening to Jessica saying we'll go for the RyanAir, quote then in low single figures for that race... but thinking "come on" Potts not going to go for the GC, gotta be kidding!! LOL!! It is all about interpreting form, not going with the masses, and reading between the lines. Couldn't have had Buttercup or GW Shark, both looked weighted up to the hilt and no guarantee of improved performances on that ground, and there prices were wrong... thus Stratum, which I made at least anything around 20s as "value", so, as usual, kept my eye on the totepool and backed accordingly.
Was very interested to see that the Limerick National winner of Mullin's "Cabaret Queen" was bought in springtime for 13k at the Goffs Sales. Transferred from Skelton's to Mullins and now it looks like a bloody wonder horse the way it jumped and hacked up against some seasoned campaigners. Could have stuck top weight on it IMO and it would have hosed up, a simpler steering job Townsend could not have ever had. Not sure if this was simply a change of ownership or just an owner fancying a change of scenery, not delved into it too deeply, but it is clear that for Skelton, this is one that got away. Am trying to see where it is entered up for futures. Def one to follow unless this was it's sole "purpose".

And yes it is coupling by ownership not trainer in France, although mostly owners run under a single trainer, which is why some may have thought that.

Count me in Mugz, please. Am happy with either the fifteen or tenner fee.

Ground as usual, Love Locket not suited.

Well done on that outsider, certainly backed in to prevent E/W returns; seemed to jink when hit by Dwyer in last 100 yds and would have been interesting if he'd held on a bit longer. Def ridden to get the trip, so not sure what the other jockeys were playing at.

    Super pick Hippo.

Great tipping Hippo, very well done, thanks again for posting.
  • Will the weather affect your bets today?
Is that a cryptic clue to your 50/1 shot, or are you getting sunstroke!
  • Will the weather affect your bets today?
Hey Jalopity, You going to tell us?

I think that that horse W of O has had its day. Sometimes they fall out of love with the game. We all missed the fairly easy Johnson double, not often you get a 6/1 , 4/1 chance on the Champ in such average fields with dodgy hotpots. Imagine if this had been McCoy up there, they'd probably have been 5/2 and evens. Just saying.
  • What a match
Very exciting but England were doubly lucky, not just that the Stoke's dive went for 4 extras but this rule was ignored too!!!! Should only have been 5 not 6, as the fielder complied with subrule part 3.
    MCC RULE 19.8
If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder, the runs scored shall be:

any runs for penalties awarded to either side
and the allowance for the boundary
and the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had already crossed at the instant of the throw or act.
